Guess The Airline - December 2000

Just a few people Guessed The Airline correctly this time. A few were misleaded by some information provided in the text. Some others were clever enough to pay attention to the "main detail". This advertisement was taken from an early 1980s issue of Fortune.

Inflight passenger announcements

Please keep in mind that these airline announcement scripts can vary greatly according to the time of day, the length of the flight, the aircraft type, the origin and destination and of course, the airline. These scripts are provided simply as a guidance.

Guess The Airline - November 2000

Many people Guessed The Airline correctly this time. After all, purposely, this game was a whole lot easier! Still, there were a few wrong answers. This advertisement was taken from a late 1980s issue of Condé Nast Traveller. Ready?

Guess The Airline - October 2000

Not many people dared to Guess The Airline behind this advertisement. Only two guessed correctly anyway! With not many clues here, how many answers can you think of? By the way, you may be interested to know this was the first advertisement to be part of my small collection of airline magazine advertisements. It was taken from a travel brochure published by the British Tourist Authority (BTA) from the early 1990s.

Guess The Airline - September 2000

This was probably one of the toughest games yet. Absolutely nobody guessed the airline. The answers were very diverse, and even included airlines which never flew a 747 in their entire existence! So, I suppose you must be at least a tad anxious to see the answer! (Please note: the text was retyped since the poor original scan made it unintelligible).

Tailspin (Movie review)

Movies based on true stories are always tricky. Sometimes, the true story is used simply as a base, other times the entire movie corresponds to reality, but always, there are some slight modifications due to dramatic purposes. Tailspin: Behind the Korean Airliner Tragedy, also known as Coded Hostile, is one of the gems in the field of true air disaster movies, because it is not exactly a movie, it is a docudrama made for cable television. As you will see here, it delivers with high accuracy, the events leading to the shootdown of Korean Airlines flight 007, flying from New York to Seoul via Anchorage.

Guess The Airline - August 2000

This time, only two people guessed the airline correctly. But there were very good tries. Everyone thought about the airlines being among the first to introduce the Boeing 767 in their niche. This advertisement was taken from a website publishing other old airline advertisements, presumably from a 1980s issue of National Geographic. If you are the author of that particular website, please contact the author.

July 1, 2000

Guess The Airline - July 2000

Many people guessed it right this month, but the answers were as varied as Continental Airlines, Martinair, United Airlines and Finnair. This advertisement was taken from a mid-1990s issue of Frequent Flyer, the monthly magazine for OAG Flight Guides subscribers.

June 1, 2000

Guess The Airline - June 2000

The answers were very diversified for this month's guess. Only one person got it right. There were a few clues, or at least one clue that narrowed the number of possible airlines. This advertisement was taken from a late 1990s issue of Time Magazine, Asian version. Ready for the answer?

May 1, 2000

Guess The Airline - May 2000

This month's airline ad was a tough one! No one, but absolutely no one got the correct answer! But one thing that remained clear: nearly everyone submitted Continental Airlines as the answer. This advertisement was taken from a website publishing other old airline advertisements. If you are the author of that particular website, please contact the author.

April 1, 2000

Guess The Airline - April 2000

All I can say for this month is that nearly 3/4 of the people guessed correctly the airline. The quarter remaining gave very diverse answers. This advertisement was taken from the inflight magazine distributed by the same airline advertised here, in a mid-1990s issue.

March 1, 2000

Guess The Airline - March 2000

There was low participation for this advertisement. Seems like no one dared to try any answer. Only one person had it right anyway! This advertisement was taken from a mid-1990s issue of Frequent Flyer, the monthly magazine for OAG Flight Guides subscribers.

February 1, 2000

Guess The Airline - February 2000

This game was quite particular. Only three answer possibilities were submitted: Aloha Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and United Airlines. This ad was taken from the back cover of a National Geographic issue of the late 1960s or early 1970s, United States version.

Panic in the Skies! (Movie review)

I have seen up to now nothing but bad comments about the movie I'm about to review. I first read the small summary and it brought my attention. A plane being struck by lightning, leaving the plane pilotless. An unbelievable story. Anyway, I decided I should leave this movie a chance to impress me. And believe me, it did, however not the way they intended to. Here goes Panic in the Skies!.

Guess The Airline - January 2000

The second "game" (maybe I should stop calling this a contest: the only prize is your own pride of knowing the answer!) was much easier than the previous one. Everybody had the correct answer, according to the e-mail messages I got! This ad was taken from the back cover of a National Geographic issue of the 1970s, United States version.
