About

The site

airodyssey.net was created in 1998 by Sergio Ortega, who believes that every airplane ride can be a little air odyssey! The website was first known as The Hangar. The name was later changed to airOdyssey, and then AIRodyssey in 1999. The website took its current name in 2001 when it moved to its own domain name.

Its first posts were aviation quizzes and air disaster movie reviews. Over the years, other features such as inflight passenger announcement scripts, airline television commercials and a monthly advertisement guessing challenge were added.

Bonjour! My name is Sergio Ortega. I am an aviation enthusiast from Quebec, Canada. You could say that ever since that first flight to emigrate from Peru as a child, I have been fascinated by aviation.

I am also a translator specialized in the banking/financial industry. I also hold a degree in journalism with a specialization in German studies. So, yes, I am fluent in English, French and Spanish and I speak a little German.

I love to hear from my visitors. If you have any questions or comments, you may send me an email or reach me through Bluesky or Mastodon.
