Imagine: it all started with a suggestion from a visitor like you. What was supposed to be a special feature for a couple of months became a regular monthly challenge for me (finding ads, cropping them, retouching them…) and for you (guessing them… and sometimes providing them!). A challenge indeed, as my schedule gets busier and busier. While no new monthly challenges will be published, you may continue to enjoy previous ads published over the last 14 years.
This being said, for our finale, we had a famous advertisement that was published in North America circa 1957.

How to guess it?
Imagine: in the 1950s, it was common for trans-Atlantic flights to stop in Gander or Goose Bay to refuel. The advert was a reference to the fact that with the airline in question, you would fly an aircraft that had a sufficient range to fly from one side of the ocean to the other non-stop. It was relatively easy if you Googled "No goose, no gander". You would find references to this classic advert. Otherwise, you could try to find which airline flew the Bristol Britannia to such places as New York, London... and Tel Aviv.In fact, this was the second airline to introduce the Bristol Britannia after BOAC (per Wikipedia). In 1958, the airline issued another bold advert stating that "Starting Dec. 23, the Atlantic Ocean will be 20% smaller". In 1961, it flew New York-Tel Aviv non-stop on the Boeing 707. In 1984, it flew a Boeing 767 non-stop from Tel Aviv to Montreal, setting a world record for a non-stop twin-engine commercial flight across the Atlantic.
