Guess The Airline - February 2012

This month, we had an advertisement from a 1979 issue of The Economist.

How to guess it?

According to the text on the advertisement, this airline was introducing the Boeing 747 in 1979. So it couldn’t be Air India, which introduced that aircraft type in 1971, nor Singapore Airlines, which took delivery of its first 747 aircraft in 1973 (both according to Wikipedia). But the major clue here was the blurred-out logo on the blanket. In my opinion, only one airline among the multiple choices matched that shape.

Statistics

In a multiple-choice poll, 58% of players got the right answer, and 42% got the wrong answer. The most popular wrong answer was Air India (30%), followed by Singapore Airlines (6%).
