Guess The Airline - June 2012

This month, we had an advertisement from a 1971 issue of The Economist for an airline that no longer exists.

Click or tap on the ad to reveal the answer.
Airline advertisement titled: ‘If you think all the big international airlines are better than us… it’s not surprising’, featuring a VC-10 taking off.

How to guess it?

The airline flew the VC-10, no longer existed, and was obviously based in Africa. Then again, which airline would market itself as the “International Airline of Africa” and fly the basic colours that remained intact on the picture? And above all, which airline would have such an extensive route map in East Africa?

Statistics

In a multiple-choice poll, 45% of players got the right answer, and 55% got the wrong answer. The most popular wrong answer was British Caledonian (17%), followed by Ghana Airways (13%). The correct answer was East African Airways.
