Le Passage ("Fly-by") (2000/France) : This commercial, directed by Michel Gondry, is one of my favorite of all time, even if it could advertise just about any airline in the world! In many of life's little scenes, an airplane flies by. Whether it is through the ring formed by the fingers of a young lady meditating, or the path followed by a father cleaning the windows of a car, or simply the text on a laptop computer, and the plane acting almost like the cursor... You have to see it to understand what is so special about this plane, flying under the soothing voice of Hope Sandoval in "Asleep From Day" by the Chemical Brothers | |||

Global Service (1995/France) : It's a cocktail. A rapid succession of beautiful images linked with the mystic world of air travel, either for business or plesaure. No word about the service nor the destinations nor the fleet. The images let you deduce everything. The best part is: this commercial has no language! Its absence of direct dialog in one language, and rather the use of many phrases in a few languages makes of it a totally international commercial. The message is simple: Air France is the global airline to fit your needs. Bravo!

Drawn together (1992/United States) : Here is an illustration of this airline's worldwide destinations in an imaginative way. Many landmarks, such as the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal, the Opera House of Sydney... are illustrated as silhouettes by a line crossing the screen. All topped up by the Air France slogan in the USA, "The Fine Art of Flying". An original way to quickly announce the destinations and the worldwide character. It's fine and it makes us smile. By the way, you will notice brief "footage" of the late New York World Trade Center at the beginning of the commercial.
