Northwest Airlines

Frame 1 Frame 2 Frame 3
Asian Customs (1989/International) : Northwest is not only a domestic airline, but also an international carrier flying to Asia. And what's the best argument for a particular destination? Experience. But instead of doing the historical approach, Northwest shows how knowing the customs in Asia is important. With quick images of Asian landscape (neon ads in Chinese, people on the streets, people bowing as they meet) come small, surprising and amusing facts such as "In Japan you're expected to slurp when eating noodles" or "In Seoul you don't have to tip taxi drivers". The off-screen voice lightly comments about Northwest's experience and service. And it's an original approach for the American businessmen and women making business in Asia, and also very educational!
