sound files (airport)
Now you can enjoy the quotes from the excellent 1970 movie Airport on your computer. Each .WAV file is "individually wrapped". You download only what you want. They are displayed in chronological order of the movie.

Warning! This section is recommended ONLY for those who have seen (and enjoyed) the movie, because many of these sound files ARE spoilers by themselves.

Speaker Minute Waltz (67 KB)
This is yet one of the many anecdotes Ada Quonsett has to say about her late husband she misses so much.

- My late husband played the violin. Not professionally, but he was very good. He once played the "Minute Waltz" in 58 seconds.

Speaker Double talk (120 KB)
In despite of Capt. Harris' attempt to do a "wide and gradual" turn back to Chicago, a young aviation buff notices everything, since the constellations in the sky have changed. So, Captain Demerest comes up with a way to explain this. (The transcript below has been updated to reflect the DVD's closed-captioning for this scene.)

- Due to a setsel wind, DISTOR's vectored us into a 360 tonsus of slower traffic. Now, we'll maintain this borton hold until we get a fortamagnus clearance from MALNAKS.
- Oh. Yes, of course!

Speaker Un-frightened (55 KB)
Just as he is about to tell Ada Quonsett that there is a bomb on the plane, Capt. Demerest asks her this...

- Are you frightened easily?
- No. I get nervous sometimes but not as much as I used to. When you get older, there isn't a lot left to be frightened of.

Speaker Emergency Descent (42 KB)
Just a little piece of Trans Global 2's CVR (Cockpit Voice Recorder)... For the first time ever, over the radio, Capt. Anson Harris says "Trans Global" instead of just "Global"...

- Trans Global 2, decompression, making emergency descent!

Speaker Marcus Rathbone strikes again (55 KB)
The most annoying passenger on flight 2 whines to Second Officer Cy Jordan saying that the Captain hit him in the face.

- What's more? The Captain deliberately struck me across the face!
- Unless you shut up, the Second Officer's going to do exactly the same thing.

Speaker The wonderful 707 (61 KB)
Right after the snowed Boeing 707 leaves the taxiway (and clearing runway 29), Joe Patroni, once again, proved the abilities of the wonderful 707. He applied full thrust at the risk of causing structural damage to the aircraft.

- The instruction book said that was impossible.
- That's one nice thing about the 707. It can do everything but reading.

Speaker Father Slapper (45 KB)
As the plane is about to land, Marcus Rathbone gets hysterical. Hopefully, the priest sitting next to him stops him.

- We're gonna crash! We're gonna be killed! And we're all gonna be... *slap*!

Speaker Mr. Boeing (21 KB)
As he looks at the Boeing 707 in the hangar, with the hole at the aft of the fuselage, and how it managed to land in one piece, Capt. Anson Harris pays a tribute to someone special.

- Remind me to send a "Thank you" note to Mr. Boeing.
