Air Canada

Hello Goodbye (1993/Canada) - 60-second version : On this memorable, feel-good commercial, Air Canada showcases residents of various countries around the world (no actors) filmed naturally, while children sing a version of "Hello, Goodbye" from The BeatlesAmazon.com link in the background. A great image for Air Canada, as an airline that unites the people from around the world, thanks to alliances with Air France, Continental and United (a few years before Star Alliance). The commercial was directed by Jean-Claude Lauzon who, strangely, died in a plane crash in 1997. The narration is in French, with subtitles added by the author.

Good news! You now have the 60-second version of this ad, featuring beautiful air-to-air footage of a Boeing 747 (now retired from the airline's fleet) and more countries depicted.

Sunrise 1 (1985/Canada) : This commercial is part of the "World Class, World Wide" ad campaign, possibly for the out-of-Canada market. Caring flight attendants serve drinks and dessert on Executive Class, as the Air Canada logo rises like the sun above several landmarks.

Sunrise 2 (1985/Canada) : Another commercial from the same campaign and with the same song, also featuring Executive Class service including appetizers, main course and in-flight entertainment.

Flying office (1989/Canada) : This Cannes-award winning commercial doesn't show what Executive Class looks like but rather what it feels like: your own flying office!

Commuters (1989/Canada) : Flying Rapidair, Air Canada's shuttle between Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal, is as convenient as hopping on a commuter train, according to this commercial.

Here and there (2004/Canada) : When Air Canada emerged from bankruptcy in the fall of 2004, it unveiled a revised color scheme and design and for the occasion, released this ad, part of its latest campaign. It features Céline Dion's "You and I" songAmazon.com link along with beautiful images of exotic and more common destinations (British Columbia, China and France, for instance), in a quite interesting continuity. You will see airplane windows flying around, allowing people to accomplish their travelling dreams. A great image campaign for an airline that had not been very visible in advertising, since its Formula 1 Grand Prix sponsorship commercials.
